What form should the 50th Reunion take?
    Guidelines that might help.
    a. Similar to past ones?  Why?
    b. Bigger and more extravagant?  How?
    C. Another format altogether?  Why?

Just the same as usual reunions but slightly enhanced with more wine on the table , a first class hotel such as the one we are using for our 47 reunion if possible ! But certainly not London

One day maximum. Keep it simple and informal. Drinks at the bar on arrival, the AGM, a good nosh, some waffle, more drinks at the bar… a late breakfast and depart.

What we have works well, the Friday works well for an informal bash for those who enjoy it. After this the present format is excellent.

Hi all, the current formula for the last few years has been successful, so why change, what clearly works.

Regt Bands are expensive- and liable to be unavaialable at short notice.
Committee at the time (availability) will suggest early ineterst form. Do we have volunteers?
    Guest list?
Lunch with AGM before: working breakfast? All dependent on nos.
Accessabilty and cost – NOT LONDON

I would certainly support the presence of some form of regimental band and piper if at all possible. I also think many of us would be quite happy to pay that little bit more if the quality of the accommodation, food and wine etc were to match.

Headquarters H/Div may be sympathetic to a band given the occasion. An evening/overnight rather than lunch event.

Topic 1: I believe that the 50th Reunion should be held in the Midlands area where it has been held in recent years. Without knowing where in the UK those who attend are living, the area would appear to be equidistant for most. The facilities offered at the Windmill Village Hotel, although not yet seen and tried, would appear to offer what is needed as regards accommodation, meals, golf, etc.

Topic 2: The Form of the 50th Reunion to be much the same as for recent Reunions. Consideration to be given as to who the Guest Speaker might be – preferably a serving or retired senior Airborne warrior.

Topic 3: Post 2025 the majority of current Association members are likely to be in their 70s and older. Those living may well wish to continue keeping in touch and meeting but I agree, as others have suggested, that this might be done on a less formal basis. However, I consider that the real problem will be, who would organize these events. Would any who have served in the Guards Parachute Platoon be prepared to take on the several Committee positions, required to manage the the Association. If not, I do not believe, sadly, that the GPA could continue after 2025.
